Kinsale Museum which is 100 metres from the Gallery dates back to 1600 & houses an array of interesting artifacts including being the venue for the subsequent enquiry into the sinking of the Lusitania. The 17th Century James Fort which is outside Kinsale is well worth visiting & is a particularly attractive walking area & has spectacular views of both the inner & outer harbour. A visit to the 17th Century Charles Fort is a priority. Take the wonderfully Scenic “Scilly Walk” which passes through the little village of Summercove & leads you straight to the Fort .Both the 15th Century Desmond Castle & the International Wine Museum are located just 200 metres from the Gallery bed & breakfast & are an essential visit to understand Kinsale
Take a stroll along the pier & view the colourful array of fishing boats ,sailing vessels & motor boats.
The town Park, also on the pier is ideal for a leisurely rest & is particularly attractive when the flower display is in bloom.
For those who are interested in aquatics ,there are a variety of leisure craft for charter ,& Oysterhaven is an established centre for Windsurfing.
Bicycle hire is available on Pearse .St. – 100 metres away .
There are 3 sandy beaches which are ideal for swimming, The Dock, Sandycove, & Garretstown which has a Blue Flag.
The local Farmers Market ( which is 150 metres from the Sample Guesthouse) is held on Tuesdays & boasts a wide ranging
selection of stalls with fresh produce .
Finally there are a great variety of Cafe`s many of which are outdoor, thereby creating a sophisticated atmosphere in Kinsale
The magnificently preserved 12th Century St. Multose Church dates back to Norman times & houses an interesting array of historical relics.
